Our Staff

Graham Bennett has a background in Laser Physics and Optical Platform Design. Graham started CRDM in 1995 as a spin-out from a research project at Buckinghamshire New University.  He has now been working in the field of Additive Layer Manufacture for more than fifteen years, and has had experience in all of the major technologies, including plastic sintering, metal sintering and stereo lithography. Graham has led and worked on many large consultancy programmes with a wide range of customers from the aerospace, automotive and medical product industries. He has published several papers on ALM applications.

Chris Bocking has been with CRDM for 10 years as Research Co-ordinator. He has a PhD in Applied Electrochemistry and specialises in surface coatings and treatments, failure analysis and materials technology relating to RP and RM technology. He was Project Manager in the Electrochemistry Group at the GEC-Marconi Hirst Research Centre for 19 years and in 1993 introduced the concept of ALM to the GEC group of companies. He is also familiar with QA practices and has conducted a number of audits on companies supplying the aerospace industry. He has been an independent consultant in non-ALM related coatings technology for the past 12 years

Steve Dover  has a BSc in Physics from University of Manchester, an MSc. (ENG.) Masters in Materials Science from Liverpool University and a PhD in Rapid Prototyping from Brunel University/BNU. Steve has been involved in the field of Rapid Prototyping/ALM for nearly 15 years, developing ALM technologies, publishing several papers in the process and project managing prototype manufacturing for various industrial sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Medical and Electronic.

Peter Holland has a degree in Computer Aided Design and Manufacture and an HND in Product Design and Manufacture. He gained experience in the design of injection mould tooling for the plastics industry over 16 years within a toolmaking company. He has been with CRDM for 9 years and has extensive knowledge of manufacture, assembly, moulding and post operative processes. He currently project manages the procurement of suites of tooling and services sourced from both UK, Europe and Far Eastern suppliers.

Martin James is a Chartered Engineer and has a BSc in Production Engineering and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management with a background in the design and sale of 5 axis CNC Routing technology used in the aerospace and automotive industries for high speed machining of alloys, wood and composites, with considerable experience of international markets. Since joining the Board in 2003, he has helped guide CRDM’s development from an exclusively Rapid Prototyping bureau to one that uses Additive Layer Manufacturing technology for the production of tooling and production parts for the Company’s extensive customer base.

Nick Lewis has a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and also a Masters degree in Advanced Manufacturing Systems with various papers published, Nick has been working in Rapid Prototyping, Manufacturing and Tooling for 14 years. As Operations Director at CRDM, Nick has overseen the growth and implementation of ALM systems at CRDM, including the current bespoke CRDM manufacturing facility. This experience allows Nick to advise clients on both ALM technology and design for ALM, whilst also continuing to deliver real world customer projects at CRDM.

Daniel Kirk is a Chartered Engineer and Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, Daniel joined CRDM in 1997 following a time at the FZK Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany. Through early research into ALM applications in injection mould tooling, Daniel has developed and manages a commercial service offering prototype and production tooling and moulding at CRDM, the first of its kind in the UK to use Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). Daniel also oversees the production of metal components through DMLS and has long history of providing design for manufacture solutions for the process.
